Seoul Launches Season 2 of Wrist Doctor 9988, Revamping the Service for Easier Access for More Citizens > 파키스탄(Pakistan)

- Any citizen aged 19 or older can register for the service via a smartphone app, and registration will be open all year round starting this March.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) launched the second season of its healthcare app, ‘Wrist Doctor 9988.’ This year, the city revamped the app to allow any citizen with a smartphone to participate easily, opening up year-round recruitment. The city government will especially focus on attracting users prone to health issues, such as postnatal mothers, youths in social isolation or withdrawal, and senior citizens, to provide them with health services tailored to their needs. The age cap for senior citizens (75 years old) will also be removed.

According to the SMG, the government improved the system so that any citizen aged 19 or older with a smartphone can register for the ‘Wrist Doctor 9988’ program. The registration will open on Mon, Mar. 4.

‘Wrist Doctor 9988’ is Seoul’s own healthcare program launched in 2021 to help citizens form healthier habits and improve their health. The highly popular program was joined by 450,000 citizens (as of the end of January 2024). Given the advancement of the overall platform and system, the city government seeks to bring the cumulative number of signed users to a million this year.

○ ‘9988’ in ‘Wrist Doctor 9988’ means all citizens living healthy (‘88’ in Korean reads ‘pal pal,’ similar to a Korean word meaning healthy or sprightly) until they turn 99.
